A culinary tour through the archipelago

Start your day with a slow and relaxing breakfast at your stay. We begin in the harbour with a short introduction to the day’s tour, after which we cast off the moorings and head out for a wonderful day in the archipelago.

This journey takes you on a full-day culinary adventure through the breathtaking Finnish archipelago. Departing from Nagu in the morning, you’ll sail across sparkling waters and weave between islands before stopping for a delicious lunch at Hyppeis Värdshus, a charming inn known for its locally inspired cuisine.

In the afternoon, enjoy coffee and homemade treats on Jungfruskär, a serene island located halfway between Finland and Åland. Here, you can soak in the beauty of open seascapes and watch cattle grazing peacefully on the coastal meadows.

On the return journey, the experience culminates with a stop at Hotel Nestor’s renowned restaurant Backpocket, where you’ll be treated to a seven-course tasting menu celebrating the finest seasonal ingredients of the archipelago.

About the islands and stops

Jungfruskär is one of the most remarkable islands in the outer Archipelago Sea, known for its rich natural and cultural heritage. Once an important stopover for fishermen and seal hunters, the island has a long history of human settlement and traditional land use. Today, it forms part of the Archipelago National Park and is cherished for its untouched landscapes — open meadows, coastal pastures, and old forests that tell the story of centuries of coexistence between people and nature. Walking its trails, you can spot rare plants, migratory birds, and traces of the island’s past, from stone foundations to ancient grazing lands that are still maintained by free-roaming cattle.

Hyppeis Värdshus, located in Houtskär, is run by Outi and Sam Fagerlund, a couple who fell in love with island life and turned their dream into reality by creating a warm and welcoming seaside inn.

The restaurant is renowned for its unique concept: each summer week, a different guest chef takes over the kitchen to craft their own menu using locally sourced ingredients from the archipelago. This ever-changing culinary approach has transformed Hyppeis Värdshus from a charming local inn into a true destination for food lovers.

At the heart of the boutique Hotel Nestor on the island of Korpo lies the fine-dining restaurant Back Pocket, where William Hellgren serves as owner and head chef. William, who grew up in the archipelago and trained in high-end kitchens (including a stint at the three-star Michelin restaurant in Stockholm), brings a playful yet refined approach to Nordic ingredients and seasonal produce.
